CAiSE’15 Doctoral Consortium Call for Papers
The CAiSE’15 Doctoral Consortium will be the 22nd Doctoral Consortium of a series held in conjunction with the CAiSE conference series. It is intended to bring together PhD students working on foundations, techniques, tools and applications of Information Systems Engineering and provide them with an opportunity to present and discuss their research to an audience of peers and senior faculty in a supportive environment, as well as to participate in a number of plenary sessions with Information Systems academics.
The goals of the Doctoral Consortium are:
- To provide fruitful feedback and advice to the selected PhD students on their research project
- To provide the opportunity to meet experts from different backgrounds working on topics related to the Information Systems Engineering field
- To interact with other PhD students and stimulate an exchange of ideas and suggestions among participants
- To provide the opportunity to discuss concerns about research, supervision, the job market, and other career-related issues
To be eligible for the Doctoral Consortium, the candidate must be a current doctoral student within a recognized university. Ideally, the candidate should have at least 6-12 months work remaining before expected completion (and at least 12 month of work already performed).
Why to submit to the CAiSE 2015 Doctoral Consortium?
The CAiSE 2015 Doctoral Consortium will be attended by prominent professors in the field of Information Systems Engineering who will actively participate as mentors to each doctoral student presenting a paper in the Doctoral Consortium.
Professor Roel Wieringa will provide an introduction to design science methodology, for all PhD students participating to the Doctoral Consortium. He will also present a tutorial for young PhD supervisors.
Accepted papers will be published in the CEUR proceedings (http://ceur-ws.org/). CEUR proceedings are indexed in DBLP.
Authors of accepted Doctoral Consortium papers will benefit from a reduced registration fee, which will enable them also to attend the main CAiSE conference, and all associated social events.
Also, this submission might allow you (in case of acceptance) to candidate for a future CAiSE PhD Award after your viva (c.f. last section).
Submission process
Submissions must be made electronically in PDF format by the stated deadline via the EasyChair conference system: https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=caise2015-dc

Attendees must have sufficient proficiency in English to allow them to participate in the academic discussions of the Consortium.
Submission guidelines
The paper must:
- clearly formulate the research question,
- identify a significant problem in the field of research,
- outline the current status of the problem domain and related solutions
- present clearly any preliminary ideas, the proposed approach and the results achieved so far,
- describe the research methodology that is applied or planned,
- outline the contributions of the applicant’s work to the problem domain and

CAiSE PhD Award co-sponsored by the CAiSE Steering Committee and Springer
From CAiSE 2015, a “CAiSE PhD Award” will be initiated. Each year, an award will be offered to a PhD defended in the last two years. With the award being co-sponsored by the CAiSE Steering Committee and Springer, it will consist of a free full registration (5 days) to the next two CAiSE conferences and will be accompanied by a book voucher for a free selection worth EUR 500,- from Springer’s printed book program. In addition, the selected thesis will be recommended for publication as a monograph in the LNBIP series published by Springer.
The PhD thesis submitted for the award will be reviewed by a standing committee composed of the members of the CAiSE Advisory Committee, the CAiSE Steering Committee and on-going CAiSE Program Committee Chairs.
The condition to apply for the “CAiSE PhD Award” is having participated as an author to a previous CAiSE Doctoral Consortium and having defended the PhD thesis in the last two years.
The candidates to the CAiSE PhD Award should be nominated by their thesis advisor or the application of the candidate should be accompanied by a support letter from the thesis advisor.
The deadline to apply for the “CAiSE 2015 PhD award” is April 15th 2015. The application should be sent to Selmin.Nurcan@univ-paris1.fr with a copy of the PhD (defended).
